The
Davidson County Democratic Party is committed to protecting your
privacy online. While using our website, you do not have to identify
yourself or divulge personal information.
The
Democratic Party is continually trying to expand online activism
and to give voters the information they need in a timely manner.
As a result, we may request contact information from you, but you
are not obligated to provide it. If you choose not to give us any
information, we may not be able to provide you with timely information
regarding events and issues important to you as a politically interested
and active citizen.
Protecting
Your Contact Information
When
you sign up for our email list, fill out a volunteer form, or otherwise
supply personal contact information through our website, that information
is used only by the Davidson County Democratic Party. Information
you supply on volunteer forms will be forwarded to individuals coordinating
volunteer activities. When you subscribe to our email list, you
will be given the opportunity to unsubscribe at the bottom of each
email we send you.
We
do not sell, rent, or otherwise give away our mailing list to anyone,
including candidates running for office, unless you have specifically
authorized us to do so. The Davidson County Democratic Party may
choose to send you information about or on behalf of candidates,
but we will not provide our contact lists to candidates directly
for their own purposes unless you have specifically authorized us
to do so.
Protecting
Your Financial Information
When
you make an online donation, your financial information (e.g. credit
card number) is processed using state-of-the-art security measures
by our online payment providers, Pay Pal and Politics Online. The
Davidson County Democratic Party does not see your financial information,
nor do we retain it in our records.
We
are required by federal law to collect and report to the Federal
Election Commission the name, mailing address, occupation and name
of employers of individuals whose contributions exceed $200 in a
calendar year. These records are available to the public. However,
they cannot be used by other organizations for fundraising. For
additional information on these rules, please visit the FEC website
at http://www.fec.gov. We also
make a note of your telephone number and email address, which helps
us contact you quickly if follow-up on your contribution is necessary
under federal election law.
Protecting
Children Online
Because
we care about the safety and privacy of children online, we comply
with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA).
COPPA and its accompanying FTC regulations establish United States
federal law that protects the privacy of children using the Internet.
While we provide information for children on our “Just for
Kids” page, we do not knowingly contact or collect personal
information from children under 13. Our site is not intended to
solicit information of any kind from children under 13.
Additional
Information
This
privacy policy may be amended by the Davidson County Democratic
Party at any time without notice other than posting of amendments
on this site.
If
you have any questions about our privacy policy, the information
we have collected from you online, the practices of this site or
