Offer Davidson County Voters New Online Resources
March
3, 2004 (Lexington, NC) – As the official presidential campaign
gets underway, the Democratic Party of Davidson County, North Carolina
is providing voters with a variety of online resources in this election
year through a new website at http://www.DavidsonCountyDemocrats.org.
“We
created our website to provide information and resources not only
for Democrats, but for all of our community members,” says
Randall K. Lanier, chair of the Davidson County Democratic Party.
Site visitors can download a voter registration form; locate their
polling places; visit links to local, state, and federal government
agencies and elected officials; and find statistics on issues important
to the future of Davidson County. The site also includes a page
for kids and a page in Spanish, as well as a section that promotes
Davidson County as a great place to live and work.
Resources
are also available specifically for Democratic Party supporters.
These include a sign-up form for the county party’s email
list, an online volunteer form, a calendar of events, and a list
of “11 Ways to Get Involved with the Democratic Party.”
The county party can also now accept credit card donations via the
website. The Democratic Women of Davidson County and Davidson County
Young Democrats also have special sections on the website.
“We
have seen the power of the Internet in educating and exciting voters
about the issues and candidates and for fundraising during the Democratic
Presidential Primary,” says Lanier. “We think this new
website will help us achieve our goals at the local level.”
The
site was launched in early February and will be updated and expanded
over the next several months. “Democrats and Republicans alike
are disturbed by what’s happening around us, from job losses
at home to the war in Iraq,” says Lanier. “The website
will be a great way for us to share information with all voters,
no matter their affiliation, as the election approaches.”
The
Davidson County Democratic Party website is managed pro bono by
EcoScribe Communications,
a Lexington-based writing, editing, and graphic design consulting
firm that specializes in working with progressive organizations.
