1. New Voter Guide to Help You Vote on July 20

Not sure which Democrats to vote for in the Primary Election this Tuesday, July 20? The Democratic Women of Davidson County has produced a Voter Guide to help you decide among the candidates for County Commissioner. The two-page guide, available at http://www.davidsoncountydemocrats.org, includes answers to six questions posed by the Democratic Women to the six Democratic candidates in the race. Five candidates--Alton Futrell, Harley "Red" Gaultney, Loretta Martin, Charles Mode, and James Robbins--replied to our survey. We don't tell you how to vote, but we do hope the Voter Guide helps you decide which candidates will best represent your interests.

Polls will be open on Tuesday from 6:30 am to 7:30 pm. If you don't know your polling place, check our list at http://www.davidsoncountydemocrats.org under "Voting." If you can't make it to the polls on Tuesday, vote early! You can vote at the Board of Elections in Lexington through Saturday, July 17 at 1:00 p.m.

2. Election Night Party in Lexington

Get together with other Yellow Dog Democrats (i.e. the party faithful) for our Election Night Party on Tuesday, July 20 to watch the results come in. Join us at the Quality Inn at 418 Piedmont Drive in Lexington at 7:30 p.m.

3. Learn How to Be a Good Volunteer

The Democratic Women invite any Democrat (man or woman) interested in learning how to be a good volunteer during this campaign season to join us at our meeting TONIGHT, Thursday, July 15 at 7:00 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church in Lexington. Cal Cunningham will speak to us about being an effective volunteer at events like the County Fair and Barbecue Festival.

4. Congratulations Joan!

We are thrilled that Joan Brinson Dressler, president of the Democratic Women, will be representing Davidson County as a Kerry delegate at the Democratic National Convention in Boston at the end of the month. Congratulations Joan, and we expect lots of great stories when you return!

5. Democratic Party Shrimparoo

Join in the fun at our annual Shrimparoo, Monday, August 30 at Jack's Seafood Restaurant in Welcome. Tickets are $30 per person. Call Jan White at 248-2848 for tickets.
